With a passion for song and theater, Jennifer Smolos inspires her students to realize their full potential and approach the demands of the profession with knowledge rather than fear. She specializes in teaching Singing, Vocal Production and Auditioning for Musical Theatre, balancing her focused approach with empathy and heart.
As a master diagnostician, she mentors faculty on how to best meet their students' unique needs. Jennifer skillfully demonstrates and guides artist faculty in learning how to develop exercises and assign repertoire that will foster individualized growth, preparing each student for the ever-evolving demands of the profession.
She also works with institutions that are seeking consultation regarding the challenges of balancing tradition and innovation in performing arts training practices. She helps conservatory programs, colleges and universities to move forward by gaining a more comprehensive understanding of how to best prepare graduates for careers in the profession.
College & University Master Classes
Jennifer frequently works with college and university students in master class settings, focusing on Singing for the Actor, Auditioning for Musical Theater and/or Vocal Health. She enjoys working with college students across the United States and abroad, and also serves as a Vocal Coach on numerous productions.
Most recent master classes include working with students and faculty at Tufts University, Bucknell University, Montclair State University, and the Savannah College of Art & Design.
Private Voice Lessons
Jennifer maintains a thriving private studio of over 50 students per year (over 500 total). Emphasizing a foundation in healthy and efficient function, she guides her students in selecting the very best repertoire to illuminate their unique talents, making them as marketable as possible in the profession. Her students have appeared in National Tours, Regional and Summer Stock productions, and attend prestigious institutions including Yale University, Tisch School of the Arts, Pace University, The New School for Drama, and the Actors Studio Drama School.
